Engaging NYSSLS Lessons and Units PLC

Teaching and learning in the NYSSLS classroom may seem to be more complicated than ever. But if we set aside all of the new buzz words, it is still about engaging students in the process of science. In this course, participants will use a variety of resources to modify and develop lessons that engage students and transition to the NYSSLS classroom. We will also look at unit design through storylines and see how bundling standards can save time and increase student engagement. We will dive into interactive tools, such as HHMI Biointeractive, NSTA, and the Wonder of Science. Example lessons will be shared and time will be provided to create materials for your classroom, linked to the new standards. There will be synchronous Zoom as well as asynchronous sessions to provide opportunities to work with other teachers and dive deeper at your own pace. Science teachers and administrators of all levels will benefit.
