Carrie Styles </br> Teacher </br> Schoharie CSD

Carrie Styles is the choral director at Schoharie Jr/Sr High School in Schoharie, NY. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from The College of Saint Rose and a Master's Degree in Music Education from SUNY Buffalo State. Carrie is the recipient of a Governor’s Empire State Excellence in Teaching Award. In addition to her passion for music, Carrie is Schoharie CSD’s Equity Coordinator, serves as a member of the district’s Building Leadership Team and is the advisor for Schoharie’s Youth Belonging Leadership Team. She is an active member of NAfME and ACDA and is a vocal adjudicator for NYSSMA solo festivals.

Jordan Weatherhead </br> Teacher </br> Glens Falls CSD

Jordan Weatherhead is a middle school science teacher at Glens Falls Middle School with a special interest in improving equity and breaking down barriers to STEM achievement for all students. She holds a BA in Earth Systems Sciences and Women's and Gender Studies, as well as a MS in Environmental Sciences from Clark University and a Masters in Science Teaching from Empire State University. She has taught all over New York State from New York City to the Adirondacks. Before entering the classroom, Jordan worked with researchers and conservation professionals to develop science curriculum based on emerging science in climate and wildlife conservation science. Those experiences inform the citizen science projects that her students participate in each year, from quantifying native biodiversity to developing storm preparedness plans for local communities. Jordan is especially proud of the work she's done to empower underrepresented and marginalized voices as a facilitator for student lead affinity groups and the staff professional development that emerged out of student experiences and recommendations.

Jaclyn Whitman </br> Teacher </br> Greater Johnstown School District

Jaclyn Whitman is a Special Education Teacher in the Greater Johnstown School District, where she also serves as a Building Representative for the Teachers Union. She came to teaching as a second career. After earning her Bachelor’s Degree from the University at Albany, she began working in the banking industry as a Loan Officer, then moving into Business Development and Marketing. Jaclyn spent some time volunteering with the Fulton County Chamber of Commerce as well as the NYS Credit Union League on various committees, looking to enhance their presence and scope in the community.

While caring for her two daughters until they reached school age, she volunteered in different roles, such as Preschool Treasurer and PTO President. When her daughters started elementary school, Jaclyn and her family returned to upstate NY where she continued her education to fulfill her goal of becoming a teacher. She returned to the University at Albany and earned her master’s degree in education with certifications in early childhood, general, and special education to grade 6.

In her spare time, Jaclyn enjoys spending time with her family and friends, exploring everything upstate NY has to offer. Always willing to try new things and up for any challenge, she has been known to tackle 5Ks, a tough mudder, and ride for the Tour D Cure.
