GCRTC Contemplative Coaching in Education Retreat
This past month, Teacher Leadership Coaches, leaders, and instructors from the Greater Capital Region Teacher Center attended a Contemplative Coaching in Education Retreat in Craryville, NY. Nestled amidst the Berkshire and Taconic Mountains in the Taconic Hills CSD area, this setting provided a perfect backdrop for this important introspective work.
Drawing upon extensive research in positive psychology and change theory, the retreat was an opportunity to explore the intersection of contemplative practices and coaching strategies, from an education practitioner's lens.
Through reflection and dialogue, participating educators were able to explore the wisdom that arises out of experiences in cultivating compassion, deep listening, and perspective-broadening. These unique skills can be be applied to a diverse array of coaching contexts to facilitate sustainable change in practice.
The goal of the retreat was to enhance the coaching support we provide educators who are continuously improving their practice and maximizing positive outcomes for their students.
