One Score, All Standards: A Comprehensive Musicianship Approach to Music Teaching

Discover how one piece of repertoire can open a world of musical exploration for your students! During this course, we will investigate strategies for teaching the full spectrum of NYS Music Standards through the lens of a single music composition. Working with repertoire selected specifically for your students, you will craft a unit of instruction that brings music to life through multiple dimensions:

• Historical and cultural connections
• Music theory
• Music composition
• Guided improvisation
• Performance skills
• Listening and analysis

You'll leave the course with a complete, standards-aligned unit of instruction ready for fall implementation. In addition, you will create the opportunity to transform your fall performances into showcases of learning that feature students not only in the role of music performers, but also historians, theorists, composers, and music critics.

Join us to reimagine what's possible when one carefully chosen score becomes a gateway to comprehensive musicianship.
